Investor Economics Insight October 2017

The importance of investment performance is no longer what it once was for all investment fund structures currently available in the marketplace. The advent of asset-allocation solutions, including funds that focus not on maximizing performance but on other features, such as minimizing volatility or tax liabilities, and  ETFs, which uphold the values of efficiencies at low cost, have altered the traditional equation that defines a product’s quality by its investment performance record.

This month’s Insight lead story examines what, when and where investment performance metrics remain important. The Trendlines article at the end of the report looks at recent trends in mergers and acquisitions in the funds industry.
