Retail Brokerage Spring 2009 Quarterly Report

The growing emphasis on “holistic” wealth management among full-service brokerage firms has been viewed as a natural growth opportunity for the insurance business. Has this opportunity materialized, and to what extent? This issue of The Retail Brokerage Report takes a look at the insurance business of full-service brokerage advisors, continuing the insurance delivery theme explored in the feature research article on managing general agencies (MGAs) in the Fall 2008 report. Beyond quantifying the volume and importance of the full-service brokerage insurance business, the current feature research article examines the evolution of the organizational approaches and sales strategies across firms.
