A graduate of Upper Canada College and the recipient of an International Baccalaureate Diploma along with an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from Queen’s University (the alma mater of several Investor Economics staffers), Daniel is currently the only member on the IE team to boast a major national athletic championship, having been on the winning side in the 2009 Vanier Cup. His accolades in the sports realm include numerous positions as team captain at the varsity level in high school and university, and he is a rare four-time recipient of the Ontario University Association (OUA) All-Star award for football. Daniel also represented Canada as the starting centre in the World America Football Championships in Austria in 2011.
After this stellar collegiate sports career, Daniel elected to tread the same path as his father, Investor Economics Founder and President Earl Bederman. From football hero to analyst, the teamwork, courage and fair play he so aptly demonstrated on the football field will no doubt continue to serve him well in his business career. Having gained an understanding of the company’s dynamics from his stint as a summer student in 2006, Daniel is already putting his research skills to use in his contribution to the Managed Money Advisory Service and the Insurance Advisory Service.
In his spare time, Daniel is heavily focused on fitness and is a sports junkie. He is an assistant coach for UCC’s varsity football squad, plays a lot of pick-up basketball, and is a serious gym rat. You don’t want to know how much he can lift.
