Whether positive or negative markets, the Canadian ETF business continues to attract new sales and expand in terms of assets. ETFs are becoming progressively more important in the context of the book of business of many asset managers, including firms with deep roots in the mutual fund space. As ETFs gained ground, the focus of product developers changed. While differentiation from existing mandates was a central consideration in the first waves of ETF launches, convergence is now an emerging trend.
