Insight September 2015

Starting in 2014, a realignment of market forces negatively impacted the Canadian economy in aggregate, but particularly affected those regions economically reliant on natural resources. The lead article of the September issue of Insight examines trends in mutual fund asset growth, sales and redemptions at a regional level. We review how mutual fund sales activity has fared in recent years across regions in aggregate and by company type. Company asset and net new money rankings for the provinces are also included. The Trendlines piece at the end of the report quantifies the impact of increasingly volatile markets on the growth of the fund’s industry asset base.
