Abundance in Unbundling: F-series Funds Dominate the Landscape
Reflecting deep changes in advisor practices and investor preferences, the Canadian investment fund asset base has continued to diversify across fund series (or share classes) with no embedded advisor compensation and/or reduced pricing for high net worth investors. This process, which started slowly in the mid-1990s, has accelerated in recent years.
The current issue of Insight examines the asset growth, sales and redemption trends of Canada’s multi-series landscape for various vantage points, including asset classes and sponsors. The Trendlines article examines the trajectory of investment fund flows since the beginning of 2020 in Canada, the U.S. and Europe to uncover how different asset classes and management styles are faring.
