The advent of asset-allocation solutions, including funds that focus not on maximizing performance but on other features, such as minimizing volatility or tax liabilities, and ETFs, which uphold the values of efficiencies at low cost, have altered the traditional equation that defines a product’s quality by its investment performance record.
